Since the last news update, we have:

a) Continued with our twice monthly litter picks (a reminder that we go down to one a month from June onwards – alternating between the first Saturday and Wednesday of the month) :

9 volunteers met at Lindow Common on Wednesday 06-MAY-26. We covered the surrounding area as well Sainsbury’s & Hooper’s car parks, Parkway, Albert Road and Alderley Road. We collected at least 9 bags.

6 volunteers met at The Honey Bee on Saturday 09-MAY-26.  We covered Altrincham Road and the area behind the hotel (which is always really bad). We collected at least 8 bags and were very happy to welcome some new volunteers.

b) Continued with our solo picks. Areas covered include Styal Road, Bollin Hill, Cliff Road, Browns lane, Dean Row, Adlington Road, Wilmslow Park North,  Styal Road, Manchester Road, , Walpole Way, The Leisure Centre and Knutsford Road.

Many thanks to everyone who did a solo pick – especially Andy, Alex, Ian, Gareth, Ann, Grazyna. Apologies if I have missed anyone.

c) Continued to support students doing litter picking for the voluntary section of their Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

d) Were grateful to Alan for reporting some fly tipped Nitrous Oxide Cylinders to Cheshire East.

e) Supported the Beavers who enjoyed a litter picking activity on Monday 18-MAY-26 at Wilmslow Rugby Club (tidying up after an event at the weekend). Well done !  They are keen to do it again at some point and extend to the cub section as well – which is great news!

 

 

 

 

f) Reported some Japanese Knotweed (an invasive species) that was spotted, during a litter pick, near the Waters roundabout, to Cheshire East.

g) Contacted “Alderley In Bloom”. Some of our committee will be joining them at a Cheshire East presentation on waste and recycling.
